Something has happened
A letter, a charge, a leak, a phone call that went nowhere — or an emergency.
- I got a notice saying I broke a rule What has to happen before a fine can be imposed, and how to answer one in writing.
- There is a charge on my account I do not understand A late fee, a special assessment, a balance that does not look right.
- Something is broken and nobody is fixing it Report it first. If you already did, the date you reported it is what matters now.
- I wrote to them and nobody answered A second email will not do what the first one did not. This is the demand the Association has to take part in.
- It is an emergency, right now Flooding, no power, a security problem. Call (619) 543-9400 and dial 0 — there is no separate after-hours line.
I want to do something
Work on your own unit, access to what you already pay for, papers you are owed — or a message to management.
- I want to change something about my unit A slider, a patio, paint, a screen door. Most of it needs approval first — and silence can count as approval.
- I need a pool or gate key You are paying for the common areas whether or not you can get into them.
- I want to see the association’s records Budgets, contracts, minutes. For most of them you do not have to say why you want them.
- I want to contact management Pick what it is about and this addresses it to the right desk, with your unit in the subject line.
I want to understand this place
Who decides what, what the rules actually say, and who else has a stake in it.
- Who decided this, and why? The dues, the rules, the vendors. These are the board’s, not the management company’s.
- What do the rules actually say? All five governing documents as text you can search, quote and link to.
- What am I entitled to? What California law gives every owner here, checked against our own documents.
- I have a question about the rules or the lawBeta The Research Desk reads the documents and the law and writes you an answer with sources. Sign in with an email code to use it.
- I want to find the other owners Owners here are scattered, and nobody holds a list of who wants to be kept informed — including us.
